Chocolate Banana Cake (sugar, dairy and gluten free)

I know I’ve said it before but there’s nothing like the combination of banana and chocolate!


For the cake

3 bananas

¼ cup of coconut sugar

½ cup almond milk

100 g dark chocolate

½ cup coconut oil

4 eggs

1,5 dessert spoons baking powder ( 1tsp U.S.)

1,5 dessert vanilla extract ( 1tsp U.S.)

¾ cup almond flour

½ cup ground flaxseeds

¼ cup raw cacao powder

For the chocolate icing

¾ cup coconut milk

1,5dessert spoons maple syrup ( 1tsp U.S.)

60g dark chocolate

4,5dessert spoons cacao powder ( 3tsp U.S.)


  1. Preheat the oven to 180C (350F)
  2. Melt the chocolate, sugar, almond milk and coconut oil at low heat.
  3. Mash the bananas, add the melted mixture and stir well. Beat the eggs and vanilla. Add the flour, flaxseeds, cacao and baking powder.
  4. Add this mixture stir until smooth.
  5. Bake in the oven for an hour or until a skewer comes out clean.
  6. Cool it before transferring to a plate.

For the chocolate icing

  1. Cream together maple syrup, coconut milk, cacao powder, and chocolate at low heat. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly until well combined.
  2. Pour the icing over the cake and spread evenly. Top with fruits, nuts or both.
