Getting back into a good fitness regime can seem daunting, especially if you’ve been out of one for a while. From taking small steps to thinking about ways to make fitness more fun, read on for some top motivation tips for heading back to the gym.

Small Steps

By setting yourself unachievable targets will almost certainly set you up for a fail. Getting your fitness levels back is never immediate. Use a small steps method by telling yourself you will work out for say 5-10 minutes on day one, upping this every few days or week by small amounts.

Have Fun with Fitness

Once you start seeing results it’s easier to feel motivated, but until that happens there are other ways to feel motivated. The best way to do this is to try and enjoy yourself. Work out with a friend to add a social element or choose group sports or fun gym classes such as Zumba.

Be Patient

Because the results aren’t instant, it’s really important to be patient. It’s takes around a month to feel fitter or maybe even see results and this can feel like a really long time when you are putting lots of work in. Just remember, you may not be able to see results straightaway but your body is improving every day. Just look at others in you gym to see how good the eventual results are and until that time stay motivated and determined to make it work.

From taking small steps to having fun with fitness and being patient, there are plenty of ways to ensure your return to a good level of fitness is a success. The most important thing is to believe in yourself.
