The InterContinental Genève: elegance and refinement in the heart of Geneva

In spring, my family and I stayed in a hotel with many aspects – the InterContinental in Geneva. I was lucky enough to arrive in appropriate style thanks to Vachoux Limousine Service.

Like the other hotels of the group, in which I have had the opportunity to stay on several occasions, the InterContinental Genève has a warm and generous feel. The welcome is marvellous throughout, whether at reception, in the restaurants, or in the spa where I spent a long time relaxing.

It is possible to have a room practically in the sky, yet have all Geneva at your feet! I was able to experience this for myself when exploring one of the five presidential suites, with a view that takes in Lake Geneva and the famous fountain, the Jet d’Eau which is the city’s emblem. Each suite, in art deco style, consists of two very large living rooms, a dining room, separate bedroom, and a sublime white marble bathroom for the kind of stay one dreams of.

As everybody who knows me is well aware, I love trying out new culinary delights. It’s one of my great pleasures when travelling. Here, I yielded to the temptations of a themed tea. Theme of the day: Bitterness. It’s a flavour that is more disconcerting than that of sweet things. The fun is in recognising the ingredients of each dish served in a ‘book box’ with a lid. It’s a pleasure to see, fun to do, and very good.

One of the musts of the InterContinental in Geneva is its famous Sunday brunch. I have seldom seen such a generous, varied and delicious buffet. Just this once, I decided to shelve any thoughts about my figure and let myself be simply carried away by indulgence and by the perfection of the service, which was discreet and attentive despite the many guests.

I couldn’t leave before having a massage at the Spa Cinq Mondes, following a Geneva shopping session. The hotel really is situated in the very heart of the city, although it seems more distant because of its beautiful natural setting, which I was able to admire from the terrace. Alas, during my stay in spring the spectacular outdoor swimming pool was still closed. In summer, though, swimming in the transparent waters of the 21-metre pool must be a marvellous experience.

I retain fond memories of each of the experiences I had in this very beautiful hotel, for many reasons including the smiles and sincere kindness of the staff, who contributed to making this stay so memorable.
