There are hotels you fall in love with at first sight. This little jewel overlooking the waters of the Aegean is definitely one of them. Its elegance, the breathtaking views of the Turkish Riviera, quality so high that it approaches perfection, irreproachable service, and an atmosphere that combines charm with tranquillity; these are my memories of the very exclusive Mandarin Oriental Bodrum.
The hotel is located in Paradise Bay, one of the Bodrum peninsula’s loveliest inlets, where magnificent shades of blue and green form a magical background. It offers guests an unforgettable stay. Even the most demanding travellers will appreciate all the little details that guarantee the success of a vacation. The decor is a perfect combination of minimalism and sophistication; the open-air lobby with a fantastic view over the sea, a concierge system, a fleet of golf carts for moving around within the hotel grounds, pretty beaches and swimming pools that invite guests to dream away the day, and finally the Far Eastern quality of a great hotel group whose reputation is fully established.
Having already delighted your eyes and your spirit, the hotel invites you to indulge in marvellous cuisine. For breakfast, allow yourself to be tempted by both local specialities and international favourites. For other meals, seven restaurants with a range of cuisine and atmosphere give you all the choice you could wish for. Assagio offers traditional Italian cuisine. If you want to try seafood, Turkish style, go to the Bodrum Balıkçısı. The Kurochan restaurant by IOKI offers contemporary Japanese cuisine. The menu at the Sofra restaurant is Mediterranean, inspired by the many influences of the local Turkish cuisine. Or, if you’re looking for a relaxed ambiance instead, try the restaurants near the swimming pool or the beach.
Like so many of us, I have ended up joining the move towards staycations, and I love discovering the magnificent hotel/villa complexes in my own region. I probably don’t need to say that I have the good fortune to live in Turkey!
