La Maison Favart, a romantic jewel set in the centre of the 2nd arrondissement of Paris

La Maison Favart is one of the oldest and one of the most romantic hotels in Paris. It is located just by the great opera house, the Palais Garnier, in the very lively Opéra district. Its warm, and really so romantic, ambience transports us to the heart of 18th century elegance, reinterpreted by the standards of the 21st.

When I entered the doors of the Maison Favart, I knew at once that this hotel would enchant me. And how not, when the magic of the place delighted me from those first moments. Everything about this place speaks to us of the love story between Charles-Simon Favart, director of the Opéra Comique, and the young actress Justine Duronceray, known as “Mademoiselle Chantilly”. Here, reflecting the life of the famous couple, elegance and theatre combine in a blend of audacity, grace and a sense of detail.

La Maison Favart offers a breakfast buffet every morning, in a fine large room whose windows overlook the Opéra. For a peaceful hour, try the “Honesty” bar which, as the name suggests, relies on the honesty of the guests. There is no waiter here, nor immediate payment. You serve yourself and note down what you have consumed; they trust you!

The hotel is as refined as you could wish; the staff are kind and always there for you, and they clearly have a strong sense of service. The Maison Favart has attained its objective of creating a home-from-home that is hard to leave. And in fact I had only one desire; to stay as long as possible!

On a personal note, I wanted to make a stylish entrance as a compliment to the elegance of the hotel, so I chose to arrive in a Cadillac from the 1950s. It was an unforgettable experience, organised by Cady Cruise.
