Ideally situated, in the centre of the lively Maçka district, surrounded by luxuriant gardens, this is one of the most prestigious locations in Istanbul.
Behind a discreet facade, the incredible refinement of the lobby, with its glass atrium giving a magnificent view of the Bosphorus, is delightful. The visitor is greeted, on arriving, in a way that is fully consistent with the standing of the hotel and the legendary hospitality of Turkey, and which provides a first taste of a delightful stay. For lovers of Istanbul, the enchantment is just beginning.
This became even stronger, for me, when I saw my room. It would be hard not to be captivated by this invitation to experience the art of living, subtly blending Swiss elegance with the warmth of Turkish culture. This seductive cocoon, comfortable and full of light, has an unmatchable view over the Bosphorus and offers a fabulous experience. I could not imagine a view that would do a better job of making anybody fall in love with Istanbul (or fall in love with the city all over again). Even a glimpse leaves you captivated by a spectacle of boats, gulls and colours that constantly shifts and changes. Especially if, as happened to me, you had the good fortune to start the day in a snowy northern landscape and finish it by enjoying the sun, before falling asleep against the backdrop of the city’s scintillating lights. A backdrop which speaks to you of centuries of history, imagined while contemplating splendid sunrises and sunsets from the comfort of an armchair or jacuzzi.
And this is far from being the hotel’s only asset. Your morning starts with a breakfast buffet which is gargantuan, offering both local and international specialities. The unique gastronomic experience continues in the hotel’s restaurants, especially in the Chalet where you can explore traditional Swiss cuisine. In summer, you can sense the life of the city around you while dining at 16Roof, a bar with a panoramic view so that you can treat your eyes and your taste-buds at the same time.
All of this, together with the great hospitality provided by the whole team, unarguably raises the Swissôtel The Bosphorus to the rank of Istanbul’s finest venues.
